Ooh, yeah. XeTeX 0.90 moved over to the TeXLive 2004 convention of naming
format files with the .fmt extension rather than the .xfmt extension.
Unfortunately, the other utilities in TeXLive don't help programs deal
with that fact.

So until the problem is fixed upstream, I recommend go into your
texmf.cnf file and add the following lines (in the TEXFORMATS area):

TEXFORMATS.xetex = $TEXFORMATS/{xetex,}//
TEXFORMATS.pdfetex = $TEXFORMATS/{pdfetex,}//
TEXFORMATS.aleph = $TEXFORMATS/{aleph,}//

And build the xetex version of cont-en.fmt in a local web2c/xetex
directory. It's new, haven't tested anywhere but with my own setup, not
to be taken internally, blah blah blah...

Sorry, it's not easy, but welcome to the bleeding edge.
If it does work, please let me know, and I'll stick it on the wiki and
probably eventually negotiate with Gerben to ship his distro with those lines.

But for the moment, I have very limited bandwidth for public-service TeX
stuff. Most of my resources are being consumed by the birth of my
(healthy, happy) daughter.
