It seems to work for me.... just re-ran the "ThreeKingdoms" sample
that I posted a while back.
Note that the vertical attribute is supported ONLY for AAT fonts
rendered through ATSUI, not OpenType fonts rendered through ICU. If
the font you're using has OpenType layout tables (GSUB/GPOS), XeTeX
will use ICU by default, but you can explicitly specify "/AAT" after
the font name.
Remember that the font attribute only changes how the glyphs are
rendered; you also need to do something at the TeX macro level to
rotate the actual lines to run vertically. See the sample file for a
possible approach.
