I'm not well informed about this, so I will phrase this as a question:

Is there a specific relationship between (or dependency upon) ATSUI and (for) the typesetting of documents using OpenType fonts ?

I thought not[1], but as I say, I'm not well informed.

mark.

[1] Since e.g. (AFAIAA) InDesign can "typeset" unicode text with OpenType fonts as PDF. (InDesign does not make use of ATSUI.)
