The txfonts are something different, a set of especially made math 
fonts to go with times.

They're matched by the pxfonts which go with Palatino.

Both sets are spaced really tightly, and arguably have quality and 
aesthetics issues.

which is pretty much complete. The only things not listed are a couple 
of works in progress.

(who is bummed to understand (correctly?) that xetex can't access math 
fonts using numbers larger than 255....)
