you are right, i misunderstood you! sorry.

re Nelson's post, i think he misunderstood the TDS. the LaTeX style
files that go with eg the Harvard package do *not* go in the BibTeX
tree, surely?

for what its worth, i think the proposed bibtex breakup is needed
