Hi Abdullah,

The problem is, you used the old version of index generate .exe file. Please try with the new version of index generate file (makeindex.exe). This is free ware only. You can take the file from ctan.

Best of Luck,
Vinoth Kumar, S.

Hi all

I got a problem in index autogeneration. Its erroring like

Scanning input file phren.idx......Not enough core......abort.

Usage: makeindx [ilqrcg] [-s sty] [-0 ind] [-t log] [-p num] [idx0 idx1....]

when i commanded c:\yandy\util\makeindx phren

My idx name is phren.idx. But when i split the .idx file into two then there
is no problem in index generation. Only when i generate as a single file its
erroring like above. Pl suggest on this

ThankX
abdullah

Here is a glad news that would be of interest to the TeXies in India.

Professor Kapil Hari Paranjape of the The Institute of Mathematical Sciences
(IMSc) was one out of eleven scientists who were awarded the presitigious
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize this year in August 2005. The awards would be
given away by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on September 28, 2005.

Professor Paranjape was awarded for his work in the mathematical sciences.
He holds a PhD from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and his
field of interest is Algebraic Geometry. IIMSc is a national institute for
fundamental research in frontier disciplines of the mathematical and
physical sciences such as Theoretical Computer Science, Mathematics, and
Theoretical Physics. Professor Paranjape is the author of several technical
publications in reputed international journals, as well as many
non-technical writings on science, computers and society. He is an active
member of the Tugindia list, an expert TeX user and a strong proponent of
the free software movement.

Congratulations to Professor Paranjape on receiving this prestigious award.

Here is the URL of home page of Prof Paranjape:
