[Tugindia] subscript and superscript postions

hi 

i am having pbm with tex subscript and superscript
positions.

for e.g. $x_1^2$  and $x_1$ 

here the subscript level are not the same.

Is there any possible way to get both subscript
postions at the same level through macros.
