For the first time in the history of TUGIndia, we approach each one of
you for generous contribution to meet an impending expenditure
relating to the promotion of TeX in India. As you all know, TUG2003 is
being held at Hawai'i and three delegates from TUGIndia are slated to
represent India and make presentations in the conference. They are:

  * Ajit Ranade

  * Satish Babu

  * KG Kumar

All of them work in various aspects of TeX like technology -- present
and future directions, sociology and economics of TeX, techno-
entrepreneurial promotion of TeX, TeX as a medium of text processing
with futuristic technologies, etc. The participation of these
delegates aims at presenting the Indian scenario relating to the above
aspects to the world at large.

The collateral benefits expected for the Indian TeX community are the
networking with developers from different countries to solve problems
in TeX and friends faced by individual users and text processing
industry in India as well, talking to various publishers and potential
clients who happen to participate in the conference to see India as a
destination for TeX projects, find funding and/or outsourcing
assistance for proposed series of micro-enterprises based on TeX in
this country (the first such micro-enterprise would be launched by mid
April), etc.

However, we face acute monetary shortage to send these delegates. We
banked on the bursary assistance of TUG, unfortunately TUG is
helpless, as their bursary is so thin now. Also, the organizations to
which the delegates are affiliated are not related to TeX and as such,
they find no justification in funding these delegates.

Therefore, I would earnestly request each one of you to contribute to
the bursary fund of TUGIndia to enable us to assist the delegates to
participate in the conference. Any amount irrespective of its quantum
would be of great help to TUGIndia.

Cheques and DD's may be drawn favoring, The Indian TeX Users Group on
any bank in Trivandrum and forwarded to:

Information relating to potential contributors like text processing
companies, trusts or the like may kindly be posted to TUGIndia Board
at <tugboard at tug.org.in>, so that we can directly approach them for
funding assistance.

Your help will be much appreciated, please remember TeX in India needs
your assistance now.

Best regards

Radhakrishnan
