   Dear Dr. Radhakrishnan,

Please write to the list and dont add prefix/suffix that I dont
have/deserve.

I have some color figures made in xfig and saved as eps files.
These have been inserted in a linux tex document. How can I
convert or remove this color in linux to have black and white
   figures.

I dont think, TeX/LaTeX can change colors in an included graphic.
You need to reopen the graphic in the application that created the
graphic, change colors, resave/re-export and recompile your
document.
