Ok, since there's interest in using the post-release branch, here we go ...

I have committed the synctex coordinate fixes from r23644
(http://tug.org/svn/texlive?view=revision&revision=23644) to TL's
branch2011 (http://tug.org/svn/texlive/branches/branch2011).

I'll do the same for the off-by-one initialization fix
(http://tug.org/pipermail/tldistro/2011q3/000120.html) as soon as I have
a chance.

If anyone knows of other fixes that deserve importing to the branch, let
me know. I can't think of any so far that are sufficiently critical.

To maximize the timecost/benefit ratio, my present intent is (and always
has been) for commits to the post-release branch to be few and far
between, and track only the most ultra-critical fixes, for seg faults
and such. It is possible to imagine slicing and dicing things in many
other ways, but none of us have an infinite of time. I want to keep it
as minimal as possible.

I mentioned the branch on the http://tug.org/texlive/distro.html web
page.

Taking a random snapshot out of our svn trunk would be a terrible
mistake. Please, I implore you, don't do that. Much better to take the
release and let it go at that, if that's the choice.

Happy distributing,
karl
