r43545 compiles without problems on FreeBSD, all tests pass (with the
last year upmendex issue on i386 remaining).

As for dvisvgm: there is no way to make binaries portable as they are
now and to compile new dvisvgm on the same system. Of course, I can
always compile it separately and include that not-so-portable binary
into the distribution, but...
