Debian/sid, amd64, broken at compiling ICU:
/usr/bin/ld: /home/norbert/Development/TeX/texlive.git/Build/source/Work/libs/icu/icu-build/lib/libicuuc.a(putil.ao): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `.rodata.str1.1' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

(lots of lots of these ...)

It seems that parts of ICE were compiled with clang(++).
