I am afraid, but current trunk still has the same test failure, and on 
Kubuntu 10.10

echo $DVI2TTY

is EMPTY.

For completeness, on Cygwin the trunk of last week (I haven't yet tried 
with current) builds without any test failure (same empty DVI2TTY)
