As predicted, there's a touch-up: I've just committed a small fix for xetex, following a bug report on the xetex mailing list (the thread "Problem: Beamer+xelatex+\XeTeXdefaultencoding"). So xetex is now at v0.9997.2.

It's a pretty obscure issue (and has been present, unnoticed, for ages) so I don't think this is itself a reason to call urgently for rebuilds, but I hope there will in fact be a further round of builds so that it gets picked up for the release.
