<font face="Comic Sans MS">Hi!<br>
<br>
The definition of the hot keys (Ctrl+-) is hard coded but can be
modified/overwriten in the file shortcuts.ini in the
<resources> folder subfolder\configuration (
C:\Users\<yourname>\TeXworks\configuration for the official
distribution under Windows - I don't know where it is for the
MikTeX and TeX Live distributions and on other systems)<br>
See the manual: A 2 Customising TeXworks - Keyboard shortcuts.<br>
<br>
For the Alt+x "acceleration keys" (the one undelined in menus) it
is hard coded in the program for the English version. For the
other languages they could be added in the translation file
C:\Users\<yourname>\TeXworks\translations\. As Uwe said by
adding & in front of the letter to be prefixed by Alt+.<br>
Example, for French, in TeXworks_fr.ts. This file can be modified
using the program Linguist and then compiled to produce the .qm
file used by TeXworks (</font><font face="Comic Sans MS">TeXworks_fr.qm)
which should be in the resources "folder\translations".<br>
Finally you have to be consistent and not have two times the same
letter in the same menu.<br>
Is it possible to get the TeXworks_en.ts file?? I don't know!<br>

<br>
(1) I installed my TexWorks by download from the TeXworks
webdite;<br>
this was easy and straightforward, and worked OK "out of the
box", as they say.<br>
<br>
(2) yes - mine does implement the sub-keys etc, ie
ctrl-x--> "cut" OK,<br>
these shortcuts are stated when you do pull down the<br>
various menus (by mouse only of course).<br>
<br>
The primary reason I would like to see ctrl-e implemented
for the Edit menu<br>
is simply ease on the memory - I only have to remember this
one<br>
(as the Edit menue contains all the options I need when
using the kyboard)<br>
its easy then to scroll down to which option I require from
the keyboard.<br>
<br>
The alternative is to remember a host of hot key strokes, or<br>
use the mouse (note that I generally use my Linux box for
most things,<br>
and this has the wonderful Kile editing system - which is<br>
what I feel texworks ought to emulate).<br>
<br>
As regards rsi - switching from kb to mouse is a bad idea
for<br>
the tendons as they pass close to the shoulder etc -so
anything which<br>
can avoid this is very useful.<br>
<br>
(the same goes for left-hand access to the CR and up arrow
(to get the last<br>
command-line command ) is also a serious problem - but
thats another matter.<br>
