When I open the file, for a second, I see colored words but it vanishes soon to give me a plain black and white text file. White background and black letters. </p>

In other words, TeXworks remembers some settings, such as syntax higlighting, on a per-file basis. So, you open the file and it is highlighted by default but then the per-file settings are loaded which cause the highlighting to vanish.</div>
<div><br></div><div>Possible solution: open the file and then check the Format->Syntax Coloring menu to make sure highlighting is indeed enabled.</div><div><br></div><div>-Charlie </div></div><br>
