[texworks] Can you help?

Hi!
    I have been working on a texfile. No copy of the texfile or the pdf file has appeared in my documents folder, and so I was stumped by the problem of mailing
it as an attachment. I was eventually able to do this by copying and pasting the file into a different file. But I do not understand why this problem occurred. Can you tell me?

TeX Live <which year> ?  Nothing found for TeX Live 2013.
