According to Tug.Org/TeXworks, the most recent version is 0.4.3.
I have 0.4.3, and I can say with complete certainty that if there
is one thing that it is not, that is "unusable". I use it almost
every day, and whilst there are many many things that I would
/prefer/ it to do (compared to its current behaviour), it would
be quite impossible for me to carry out my daily activities if
it were in any way unusable.

Do please feel free to pass my comments back to the originator
of the "unusable" comment.

P.S. I never use Python, nor do I ever feel the need for a scripting
language for TeXworks : I want it to be able to open and edit UTF-8
files, call the appropriate compiler, and when appropriate, to display
the rendered output and/or the log file.
