Hi Vladimir,

I also use Mercurial (and on Windows using THG) to keep control of my 
LaTeX documents!

Of course your colleague would have to be taught how to properly use 
Mercurial and THG to get his job done, but I think that's not too much of 
a hurdle, since Mercurial isn't overly complicated to work with. :-)
