[texworks] additional dictionaries

Hi,

Thanks!

My need is (a), adding new words to the English dictionary to avoid too many
colored words. The forgetfulness of Ignore makes it essentially useless.

Do you mean that you want to (a) add entries (such as technical terms,
names, or whatever) that are not in the existing dictionary for a language;
or (b) add a dictionary for a new language that isn't currently available?

These are two different issues. For (b), you'd need to create "compiled"
.dic and .aff files for hunspell, and drop them into the "dictionaries"
folder. I don't know any details of how this is done - I've only used
pre-built dictionaries - but I presume documentation is available from the
hunspell project or elsewhere.

For (a), we need a mechanism to use an additional list of words in parallel
to the pre-built dictionary for any given language; this will allow
exceptions to be added on the fly (currently, if you use the "Ignore"
option, the exception is forgotten when you quit). This is definitely on my
to-do list.
