Currently, you can alter what TAB does for autocomplete (there is one
for itemize).  I think Jonathan is planning some kind of scripting
language so that users can alter the program to their own taste.  For
example, your example is LaTeX-specific, and TeXWorks is "out of the
box" a general TeX editor.
