[texworks] Setting search path, using (La)TeX for dvi and synctex

Indeed. Go to the prefs, select Typesetting > Processing tools and  
define additional tools.

For plain TeX (notice the etex, not tex, that's crucial):

For the --synctex=1 option you can use a single hyphen "-" instead of  
a double one "--", but for the --extratexopts option the double hyphen  
seems mandatory.
