Another distribution is TeX Live, which I prefer as it runs on all my computers.<br>
<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif">Concerning the book: since 1990 a lot has happened with TeX/LaTeX & Co. I would recommend the LaTeX companion, 2nd ed.<br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif">
