for anything but computer modern. but<br>
i very much doubt that there is space<br>
around an em-dash in other fonts because<br>
one of the functions of an em-dash (at<br>
least in metal) is to allow multiple<br>
dashes to be set butted up against one<br>
another to make a solid line, and for<br>
that, spacing would be counterproductive.<br>
