[texhax] Blank first page problem (how to remove?)

No, the blank page appears in the pdf viewer so it is not the printer
settings. I am totally puzzled and even the most simple document sill
produce a blank first page. In fact, removing /all/ content (no text, no
index, no nothing exept the necessary preamble and \begin,
\end{document} statements produces exactly one blank page. Inserting
text into the document, it will always appear from the second page and
the first blank page always remains. ??? I am totally puzzled!
