[texhax] two bibtex problems, one involving babel[latin]

Well, you *cite* ``Ferraro'' in bibtextest1.tex, and yet you have the  
*key* in calculus1.bib
equal to ``Ferraro:series''.  As my late Uncle Stanley would've said  
``What the hell do you expect?'' :-)

Either change the citation to ``\cite{Ferraro:series}'' or the key to  
``Ferraro'' (``@book{Ferraro,'')
and all will be well.

Haven't thought about your second problem.  I think it's beyond my  
realm of competence.
