[texhax] \captions as a separate list

Hello Everyone,

Many journals and publishers require that captions (Legends for
figures and tables) be given at the end of the submitted manuscript
separately and *not* along with their corresponding figures and
tables.

It appears that i might have to do it manually, by removing \captions
all together from figures and tables and putting the caption texts
separately, but i have to be careful, to get the corresponding figure
and table numbers right.

Is there a better way to achieve this. Is anyone aware of a LaTeX
package that can do this? Has anyone had a similar experience while
submitting manuscripts to a publisher or a journal ? If so, how did
you manage to do it ?

I have searched the TeXFAQ and the web, but i am unable to find a solution.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Senthil
