Could you put a copy of the .pdf on a site somewhere?

My suspicion is your setup at work has some untoward aspect, either a 
buggy PS RIP, or a version of Adobe Acrobat set to use local fonts or 
something.

An alternative here would be to set up using Times .pfb files instead 
of the URW clone.
