    some of the titles contain
    people's names, etc, so i guess they should be capitalized.

Enclose words that should be capitalized in braces.

@article{...,
  title = "Karl {Popper's} Theory on {Marxism}"
  ...
}

Then "Popper's" and "Marxism" will be left untouched, while "Theory"
will be changed according to the style.
