<div dir="ltr">Lars:<div><br></div><div>That is not the issue.  In fact, I do use pdflatex.  However, when I produce a dvi file I'd like to look at it.  Why does texlive has config files and placeholders for xdvi?  They should be removed.</div>

I used to also just work with xdvi on my linux box, but made the switch to a purely pdflatex based setup after I got Evince to support synctex.<br>
