release on DVD, installing on WinXP?</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I installed on a test machine which had a
relatively clean Win installation, and which worked as well as could be
expected. However, after the installation (which was the default), various
problems appeared. Most noticeably, very slow startup and a tendency to
spend a long time hanging with little aparrent activity. Also, the
Add/Remove Programs list will not populate, which is a sign of a somewhat broken
registry.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>However, TeXlive itself runs properly on sources
prepared elsewhere.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Currently I use the 2007 release as the later ones
have displayed a number of incompatibilities with the Memoir class and other
issues.</FONT></DIV>
