Thank you to everyone who helped with this problem, I found the solution.<br><br>I have to apologise, the fault was in an incorrect installation. I installed a set of encoding files that did not match the version of the fonts I installed. once i cleared the install and tried again with the correct version, everything worked /very/ smoothly.<br>

Since the other minionpro variants have a very larege number of entries each, I will first try to dig and see why those font entries are not generated.<br>

If updmap-sys fails to add the necessary line due to some<br>
reason, you can add it manually by copying from a map file<br>
