I will do that. I have a note that it takes about 15 minutes compiling the binaries.

I rsync'ed, I now launch the compilation.

ok, on Mac OS (from MacTeX) we have a /usr/texbin symbolic link which we 
can point to the wished location 

there is no need ever adjusting PATH
