Thanks for the report. (Regardless of the real problem, the error
message shouldn't just be talking about undefined values. We'll see
about improving that.)
I can't quite picture what is actually going on. Your message says that
the Perl download failed but wget succeeded. That would point to either
a problem with your Perl (but you say it fails in the same way on
multiple systems of yours) or a temporary problem with the server (but
you say it fails in the same way with multiple server hosts). And it
certainly doesn't happen for everyone.
If all the hosts you are trying are on the same network ... maybe
something in the network is blocking the download using Perl (you could
try running GET, aka lwp-request, from the command line), but wget gets
through? Is a proxy involved?
