Hi Karl,

In fact, even in a bash terminal, if I try

mf-nowin -progname=mf \mode:=ljfour; mag:=1; nonstopmode; input Cardine.mf

it fails with

"
This is METAFONT, Version 2.718281 (TeX Live 2013)
kpathsea:make_tex: Invalid fontname `mode:=ljfour', contains ':'
! I can't find file `mode:=ljfour'.
<*> mode:=ljfour
"

while

mf-nowin -progname=mf "\mode:=ljfour; mag:=1; nonstopmode;" input Cardine.mf

works very fine...

So I believe it should be quoted... But maybe it depends on the shell
you have...

Thank you!
