Which is precisely why I only upload proper releases to CTAN. Currently CTAN has the release from texlive 2010, and at the end of the week it will have the context for texlive 2011. I fail to see what is wrong with that. The release of context for texlive 2011 is not even two weeks old yet, so CTAN is outdated by that much now, and that is only because I have been too busy doing other things.

I may be able to help out there. Over the summer, I will redesign the tlcontrib backend so that it will not only provide .xz packages, but also:

- an ftp directory for uploads to ctan for both context and the context modules
- subversion repository for use by the context minimals
- raw .tar.gz files available from the website itself

There is no reaon why it would not be able to create .deb packages also.

Best wishes,
Taco
