Thanks for this information. I'll have to investigate what the
reason of that abort could be.

One thing you could try in the meantime: If you have xindy.run from
TL2010 installed; what happens if you do the same call with
xindy.run from TL2010 and xindy.mem from TL2011?
If that happens to work; what is the output of xindy.run --version?
