[tex-live] Problem updating using tlmgr

They can coexist nicely. However your path should indicate the version
you are using at the moment

F.e. (assuming you are on UNIX) /usr/local/texlive

drwxr-xr-x 11 texlive math 4096 Mar 14 05:12 2008
drwxr-xr-x 11 texlive math 4096 May 12 05:52 2009
drwxr-xr-x 11 texlive math 4096 Jun  2 03:52 2010
drwxr-xr-x 10 texlive math 4096 Jun  2 03:52 texmf-local

with texmf-local shared between versions and

/usr/local/texlive/2010/bin/x86_64-linux/tex
/usr/local/texlive/2009/bin/x86_64-linux/tex
/usr/local/texlive/2008/bin/x86_64-linux/tex

invokes TL2010, 2009, 2008 respectively (so you add
/usr/local/texlive/2010/bin/x86_64-linux/ to you path if you want to
use by default TL2010)

(Sure, "x86_64-linux" is replaced by actual architecture of your computer)
