As ubuntu only has TL2007, I usually recommend that users install TL2008 instead. But various programmes in ubuntu requires a LaTeX installation from the package requirements. For example TeXmaker or auctex any recommendations as to who one deals with this? when one only want to use a single LaTeX installation, TL2008. -- /daleif
