[tex-live] Bug with info generated by TeXlive 2008 installer

Yes, but you selected "System integration" or "Setting up symlinks"
which by default is turned off.

We cannot check for compatibility of our binaries while installing on
functionality. And we ship info, right.

I tried to log in there, but it didn't work.

Simply, this problem is not easy to solve, tlmgr actually circumvents
rpm. And this will be that way in each and every case. We cannot work
with rpm, because rpm is not available on all our supported
platforms/Operating Systems. We are not writing for SUSE, we are writing
for many many many combinations.

So we had to create our own system.

Distributions (and since I am the packager for Debian, too, I know the
problems arising) have to do something, but for sure they have to
disable package updates, installations etc etc. I will have the same
problem on Debian.

So either you use the distribution TL, or the *real* texlive, and in the
latter case fix the problem with info, by eg NOT installing
collection-texinfo (AFAIR it is called like that).
