You could try 

	http://www.logic.at/people/preining/texlive/update-texlive-11048.run

which is a self extracting (created using makeself.sh) script that
copies all the texlive.infra and bin-texlive files to your installation.

It is NOT failsafe, it will search for
	kpsewhich -var-value=SELFAUTOPARENT
and then copy to that place all the files.

If someone wants to try it, it is here. I will do some testing etc soon.
