I didn't find X11 hard to install, but there is some bad information
posted on the net.  Our mission critical apps use X11.

Fink hasn't been keeping up with 10.5, so I use macports, but p5-tk failed
some tests during build, so it is no surprise that has some problems.

Well, I don't have Tk installed for the /usr/bin/perl, so your script
gives: "Can't locate Tk.pm ...", while /usr/bin/env perl gives the
"bus error".   Unfortunately, I have much worse problems atm --
the NFS mounts are down, the new Mac Pro won't talk to the network
at all; it may be a while before I can look into this in more detail.
