I probably won't be able to look at this until next week at the  
earliest - I'm away from home with hardly any internet connectivity  
right now.

Offhand, I'd guess that Cygwin has most of the necessary libs, though  
getting the configure options right to use them might be tricky.  
However, for ICU (at least) it will still be necessary to use the  
version from TL, as this is a customized version. And the original  
message showed compile-time failures in the Graphite library, which I  
wouldn't expect to find installed in Cygwin; we always build that  
locally. I don't know whether that is a problem with the Cygwin  
compiler, or (more likely) a portability issue in the Graphite source.

The configure option --with-old-mac-fonts noted in the build log  
should be harmless; AFAIK, this only affects the freetype2 build on  
Mac OS, and is ignored on other platforms.
