If you are producing DVI in either case, then the one number which
looks disconcerting is "Total System Calls": with the use of kpathsea
and its database, they number of system calls should remain
comparable.  The other numbers can be due to a larger executable
(because the initial arrays have larger sizes), in particular if
memory is somewhat scarce.

But the quadrupling of the system calls sounds like something one
should try to track down.
