I believe the markup should let us do the filter. Words
_should_ be marked as names, foreign, etc.  The process
of cleaning up the BNC to XML is just about to finish.

great! lets see if we can do this. 
my colleague Lou Burnard is away this,
but I'll ask him to look at it next week (he
has the cleanest copy of the BNC).
