I think that most Europeans are interested in Adobe Euro fonts.

Please try this one:

Some of the code was stolen from
Master/texmf-dist/source/fonts/eurofont/install.sh .

install-adobe-eurofont installs the fonts to $TEXMFHOME. If there is
a symlink

  ln -s install-adobe-eurofont install-adobe-eurofont-sys

then install-adobe-eurofont-sys will install to $TEXMFLOCAL (which is
hopefully not $SELFAUTO... on the live system :)

Are there other programs than wget and ncftp which can be used in a
script?

Why is

  OSFONTDIR = /please/set/osfontdir/in/the/environment

in texmf.cnf-4WIN?

Isn't it C:\WINDOWS\FONTS in all flavours of Windows?

Regards,
  Reinhard

Microsoft isn't the answer. Microsoft is the question, and the answer is NO.
