what i have in mind is something
compare (cmdlineformatstr,internalformatstr) ==
strip spaces from cmdlineformatstr
strip spaces from internalformatstr
cmp both stripped strings
so, in practice
other text files
other textfiles
othertext files
othertextfiles
are all the same; that way there is no need to change existing scripts, since
the spacy variant is still supported
