\doublecolumns

I am trying to insert a header line
folowed by two columns of
information. Somehow the \doublecolumns commnad wipes out the
header line. If I just delete the \doublecolumns command the
header line reappears. I have tried putting \vskip \vglue etc
betwenthe header line and the \doublecolumns command but nothing
seems to work.

Hi,

Can you give an example of a file to reproduce the problem?
Possibly
this has been fixed in eplain 281.
However, almost 3 years ago (see below), I mentioned another bug
related to \doublecolumns for which to my knowledge no fix
appeared
so far.

The first line following a \doublecolumns that
is

closed almost at the end of a page is being typeset

It

spurious space on top. Rather, the first column
should
