pro files are loaded on PostScript side, the reason why TeX cannot
output the current version number and date. But for the future we can
do this with the style package, but then have to update it manually,
when the pro files get updated.

As Paul already pointed out, the version from CTAN

% Version 1.01, 2006/01/11

should work.

On Linux you can easily output your current version with

voss at shania:~/PSTricks> grep Version `kpsewhich pstricks.pro`

% Version 1.01, 2006/01/11
