You are probably using ESP-Ghostscript (obsolete since
GPL-Ghostscript-8.60, see http://www.cups.org/espgs/articles.php?L484).

ESP-GS has a bug that leads to invalid PDFs (in case of
`animate'-generated animations). CUPS, a widespread printing daemon, used
to depend on ESP-GS. Now, CUPS users may savely update to GPL-GS-8.60,
which will produce working PDF animations.
